Ingredients

Bread
  • 350 g bread flour
  • 190 g cold milk
  • 1 egg
  • 40 g granulated sugar
  • 4 g salt
  • 5 g instant yeast
  • 35 g unsalted butter
Coconut Topping
  • 65 g vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 30 g granulated sugar
  • 35 g coconut flakes

Instructions

  • Put all the ingredients for bread except butter into the stand mixer bowl and beat in medium high speed until comes together. Add in butter and beat until well combined. Let the dough ball rest until doubled in size.
  • Press and knead the dough ball. Divide into 25 equal pieces. Roll into small balls. Line the baking tray (28*28*2.6cm) with parchment paper or baking mat. Place them one by one onto the baking tray, cover with plastic wrap and let rise until doubled in size.
  • In a clean bowl, put in vegetable oil, sugar and egg, mix well. Add in coconut flakes, mix until well combined. Put into a piping bag.
  • Preheat the oven to 195℃(383℉). Pipe the coconut mixture onto each bread roll to cover its top. Send into the oven to bake for 20 minutes. Cover the bread rolls with tinfoil when they turns golden brown so the surface won’t be burnt.
  • Cool and serve.

Notes

  • Dough Consistency: Ensure your dough is well-kneaded for a soft and fluffy texture.
  • Coconut Flavor: Adjust the amount of coconut flakes to suit your taste preference.
  • Proofing: Allow enough time for the dough to rise properly.
  • Baking: Bake until golden brown for the best flavor and texture.
